The NFL has a long history which we talked about in another article on the website and the Super Bowl also has a long history behind it. The Super Bowl wasn’t awarded to a team until 1967 and at that time it was called the
AFL-NFL World Championships due to the leagues still being two separate entities at the time. In 1970 the two leagues merged together and from there on in it has been known as the Super Bowl or the NFL Championships.
We’re going to go through all of the past winners of the Super Bowl now so you can take a little look at history.
Throughout all of the Super Bowl games, you would typically think that one of the conferences would be way ahead of the other in total championships, but it’s really close. The National Football Conference (NFC) has the lead with 22 Super Bowl wins and the National Football Conference (NFC) has 21 Super Bowl wins. The Pittsburgh Steelers have won six super bowl championships which is more than any other NFL team in history. The Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers have five Super Bowl championships which put them in second place. If it wasn’t for the recent success that the Steelers have seen they would still not be number one, but thanks to Big Ben, Ward and a stellar defence the team has taken the lead in Super Bowl rings.
The teams with the worst luck in Super Bowl games have definitely been the Bills and the Vikings as they are both 0-4 in the big game all-time which is pretty terrible. There are several teams who haven’t been able to play in a Super Bowl yet either including the Saints, Lions, Texans, Browns and Jaguars. The Super Bowl has had a long history and many teams have won the championship game as you can see, there are still a few teams though we need to break the ice.
