A few online betting sites have Canadian football betting featured. Since there are only nine teams in the Canadian Football League (CFL), it’s relatively easy to follow and analyze trends and statistics.
You can bet on CFL games three main ways – through the ‘Money Line’, ‘Totals’ and a ‘Point Spread’. Simply choose one of our recommended online sportsbooks that supports CFL betting, register, make a deposit and off you go!
You can bet on the games during the season, the playoffs, the Grey Cup and you can even place wagers on the draft.
Placing a bet on CFL games can sometimes be tricky. Our weekly expert picks are selected by game professionals who will help you make an informed decision.
Since week one is behind us, over the next 20 weeks or so, our team will provide you with CFL odds and their selections on a daily and weekly basis. Make sure you follow our updates.
Sometimes CFL betting lines provide surprises, sometimes not. In Week 1 games all the West teams won their games giving you a representation of which teams are stronger. Even the Toronto Argonauts, last years Grey Cup winners, lost their opening game.
Some experts feel that the Lions will go home with the trophy this year. Calgary should once again be in with a chance which is why they are right up there in the CFL odds. Other teams looking to make an impact are the Hamilton Tiger-cats, Edmonton Eskimos and the Ottawa Redblacks.
Choosing a line means choosing a straight up winner in a match-up. CFL lines make placing bets a simple task. You can either pick a favorite or you can take a chance on the underdog.
If you like a challenge you can bet on the ‘Total Points’ or more commonly known as an Over/Under. This way you can bet on how many points are going to be scored in total by both teams.
A ‘Points Spread’ is a wager where you predict by how many points will one team win or lose. If you were betting on Toronto in their game against Calgary, at a Point Spread of -7, you would look for the Argonauts to win or lose by less than 7 points to be successful.
So far, betting sites seem to agree on a few CFL betting odds. Calgary Stampeders, last season’s Grey Cup finalists, are favorites for the title at +100 and look a strong bet.
Those with outside chances include the British Columbia Lions who are +800 odds on to lift the Grey Cup this season while Toronto Argonauts, who many feel were lucky to win last year come in with +900 odds.
It seems everyone agrees that Calgary Stampeders will again compete for the title this season. The line for the Stampeders is at +100, while Hamilton and Edmonton stand at +650. Even Saskatchewan and Toronto are in the mix.
Since we are talking titles, it might be a good idea to put some early money on the winner of the 53rd Super Bowl to be held in Atlanta in February too.
The New England Patriots are once again favourites to lift the trophy at +600. Further back Pittsburgh Steelers stand at +1000 while the Vikings, Packers and the Eagles are available at odds of +1200 at the time of writing.
