So many weeks down, so many running backs went with them. Hey, at least Larry Johnson landed on his feet, right? Just something about him going to the Bengals feels just right. And if we continue to get games like the Pats/Colts thriller (big Bill stupidity aside), the NFL season might just pull itself out of a mediocre season after all. Really, what are the stories? The Saints offensive machine? They look soft on defense. The Colts? They’re nine lives are almost up. The….NFC? Yeah, your guess is as good as mine. I was on the Falcons train for a while, but I’m thinking of jumping ship with Turner’s ankle sprain. But that doesn’t mean we still can’t make some money.
Dolphins at Panthers. Who knew Dellhome wasn’t done? Yeah, it’s always easier when the running back is carrying his load. Just ask Brett Favre. The ‘Fins are 3-point dogs going in as the road team, and I think these are two teams passing themselves in different directions. The Panthers are going to ride this mini-spark to a .500 season. Playoffs? Playoffs? No. But I like their upshot better than a team behind a rookie QB and Ricky Williams. Panthers cover.
And the game everyone will be watching. The offensive machine vs. the defensive powerhouse…or so they’re billed. Colts are a slim 1-point favorite on the road against the Ravens. Remember when I said the Colts nine lives are running out? Won’t be this week. Got a hunch. The Ravens will be fired up, no doubt, but Manning does his homework every week, and they’ll be prepared to pick apart the defense with a nice balance of short passes and Joseph Addai to keep things honest. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Garcon have himself a nice day. Bet Manning would love to have Gonzalez back for this one, though. Still, I’ll bet the Colts to win and cover. Sorry, Ray.
